Wellsoft Corporation Provides H1N1 Point Of Care Tools

These tools can be used to support consistent documentation, diagnosis and treatment for H1N1 Flu.

Somerset, NJ – October 27, 2009. Using the latest Center for Disease Control (CDC) Guidelines, Wellsoft Corporation is making available H1N1 documentation templates, order sets/panels and discharge instruction sheets for its Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) and Discharge Instruction (DI) clients. These tools can be used to support consistent documentation, diagnosis and treatment for H1N1 Flu.

Wellsoft has installations in over 150 hospitals in the U.S. and Canada. Wellsoft EDIS and DI clients provide health care for a combined total of more than 3,000,000 Emergency Department patients annually. Ensuring clinicians have the tools necessary to provide quality care while supporting public health and safety needs are two key drivers for Wellsoft.

Charting and ordering templates are available for immediate use and can include site specific customizations (screening tools for triage, at risk logs and precaution flags) if required. To date, Wellsoft has provided RN screening templates, MD H&P Macros, Discharge Instructions/After Care Instructions, and Patient Logs (to document influenza outbreaks) in response to the needs of many Wellsoft EDIS clients.

At the time of initial H1N1 Flu breakout, Wellsoft developed customized screening tools for Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California. In addition to customizing the triage template and “at risk” log, Wellsoft created an H1N1 Patient Aftercare Instruction, MD H&P Macro, and also enabled web links from Wellsoft EDIS to the CDC briefing page.

“We are very satisfied with the tools Wellsoft has supplied. Their response has been immediate and their attention to this issue has been of the caliber we have grown to expect from Wellsoft. The daily reporting capabilities we now have give us the information we require,” commented Diane York, Wellsoft System Administrator, Emergency Dept., Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.
