Emergency Department will streamline the delivery of care to its patients
Somerset, NJ – August 2007 – Wellsoft Corporation has joined the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York in their commitment to excellence in providing superior patient care at the area’s only Level One Trauma Center. By implementing Wellsoft’s EDIS, the University Hospital Emergency Department and Level One Trauma Center will streamline the delivery of care to its patients. The University Hospital’s Emergency Department has more than 51,000 patient visits each year and is staffed by physicians and nurses who are specialists trained in emergency care, trauma and emergency preparedness.
“This tracking system will allow us to automate many things currently done by hand or by redundant keyboarding. Clinicians will have easier and more accurate at-a-glance cognizance of real time status of the whole ED from any location in the whole ED”, states Peter J. Mariani MD, Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, State University of New York Upstate Medical University.
Wellsoft’s dynamic colored-coded Patient Tracking system will be customized to meet the critical care monitoring needs of the physicians, nurses and specialists at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Wellsoft’s implementation specialists will analyze patient flow and throughput to customize the Wellsoft solution to meet SUNY’s excellence goals. SUNY will also utilize Wellsoft’s tracking system to track the status of orders placed, alert staff to factors such as the elapsed time, and to flag results on the Wellsoft v11 tracking display.
Julie Soule, RN and Steven Olson, RN, Adult and Pediatric Patient Services Managers for the Emergency Department at University Hospital state, “This will be an invaluable resource to the nurses in the Emergency Department. This will give them ability to quickly streamline and organize vast amounts of information. The use of this system will expedite discharges and transfers. This will increase the overall throughput of our patients, and thus create a more efficient environment for the patients we serve.”
Dr. John Santmann, President of Wellsoft Corporation added, "We are honored to be part of SUNY’s commitment to excellence and are excited to have this opportunity to partner with SUNY Upstate Medical University to improve processes with our award-winning software.”
