Wellsoft EDIS is also designed to support “fast track” areas or hospital E.D. affiliated urgent care centers.
Hospitals with a fast track area, or urgent care centers seeking an EDIS, typically need to reduce patient turn around time (arrival to departure), improve efficiencies, improve patient satisfaction and the overall quality of E.D. care.
Many hospitals realize significant savings with fast track areas or urgent care centers. In some hospitals, patients are evaluated by a triage nurse and if their injury or illness is minor they are routed to the fast track area instead of waiting in the E.D. until the more serious cases are treated. Many hospitals staff their fast track areas or urgent care centers with a nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant.
Wellsoft is EMTALA compliant. Tracking, documentation and other features inherent in Wellsoft EDIS are available to meet the needs of a fast track area or hospital affiliated urgent care center. The highly customizable nature of Wellsoft affords each hospital the capability to easily customize how they would like to handle fast track registration, documentation and reporting.
Fast Track/Urgent Care Features
Ability to “require” an ED Attending consultation before treatment and/or release for identified cases.
Ability to restrict who may disposition a patient or certain cases. In some facilities, a PA may chart, but ultimately the ED attending must review the chart and electronically sign before the disposition is made and the patient instructions and scripts are printed.
Ability to custom design fast track specific templates to guide/limit what the NP or PA charts for the fast track patient.
Ability to accommodate Fast Track specific pathways.
Ability to generate Fast Track
reports, separate from the Main ED
if required.
Ability to move patient information from the Urgent Care or Fast Track
to the Main ED for patients that
are transferred.
Ability to have ED Fast Track area
or Urgent Care center operate independently without the need to have ED Attending involvement.

"Wellsoft is as effective in the Fast Track area as it is in the main ED. Patient flow is optimized as key information is immediately available for the MD or PA. With Wellsoft, patients do not wait as long to be seen and discharges are no longer delayed."
